Book of Marriage
- باب الولي - ذكر الإباحة للإمام أن يزوج المرأة التي لا يكون لها ولي غيره من رضيت من الرجال وإن لم يفرض الصداق في وقت العقد
Chapter: The guardian – Permitting the ruler to marry off a woman with no guardian to a suitable man, even without a specified dowry
Hadith Number: 4072
اخبرنا ابو عروبة بحران، قال: حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم الحراني ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سلمة ، عن ابي عبد الرحيم ، عن زيد بن ابي انيسة ، عن يزيد بن ابي حبيب ، عن مرثد بن عبد الله اليزني ، عن عقبة بن عامر ، قال: قال صلى الله عليه وسلم " خير النكاح ايسره"، وقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لرجل:" اترضى ان ازوجك فلانة؟"، قال: نعم، قال لها:" اترضين ان ازوجك فلانا؟"، قالت: نعم، فزوجها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ولم يفرض صداقا، فدخل بها، فلم يعطها شيئا، فلما حضرته الوفاة، قال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم زوجني فلانة، ولم اعطها شيئا، وقد اعطيتها سهمي من خيبر، فكان له سهم بخيبر، فاخذته فباعته، فبلغ مائة الف .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best marriage is the one which is easiest for a man." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man: Are you pleased that I marry you to such-and-such woman? He said: Yes. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the woman: Are you pleased that I marry you to such-and-such man? The woman replied: Yes. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) married her to him. He did not fix any dowry. The woman was sent to her husband's house and the man did not give her anything. When the man was near death, he said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah married me to such-and-such woman and I did not give her any dowry. I give her my share in Khaybar.
