Book of Breastfeeding
ذكر الإخبار بأن الرضاع للمرضعة يكون من الزوج كما هو من المرأة سواء في الإباحة والحظر معا-
Clarifying that breastfeeding is attributed to the husband as well as the wife in permissibility and prohibition
Hadith Number: 4219
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب الجمحي ، قال: حدثنا داود بن شبيب ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن هشام بن عروة ، عن عروة ، عن عائشة ، قالت: استاذن علي اخو ابي قعيس بعدما ضرب علينا الحجاب، فقلت: لا آذن لك حتى ياتي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فلما جاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم استاذنته، فقلت: يا رسول الله، إن اخا ابي قعيس استاذن علي فابيت ان آذن له حتى استاذنك، وإنما ارضعتني امراة ابي قعيس ولم يرضعني ابو قعيس. فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ائذني له فإنه عمك" .
Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The brother of Abu Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter my house. This was after the command of hijab had been revealed. So I said: I will not give you permission until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) comes. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived, I asked him for permission regarding this matter. I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! The brother of Abu Qais sought permission to enter my house, so I refused to give him permission before asking you, because the wife of Abu Qais had nursed me, but Abu Qais himself had not nursed me. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You should have given him permission; he is your uncle.
