Chapter on Oaths of Abstinence – What to do if a man swears to abstain from his wife
Hadith Number: 4278
حدثنا عمر بن محمد الهمداني ، حدثنا الحسن بن قزعة ، حدثنا مسلمة بن علقمة ، حدثنا داود بن ابي هند ، عن عامر ، عن مسروق ، عن عائشة ، قالت: " آلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من نسائه، فجعل الحرام حلالا، وجعل في اليمين كفارة" .
Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took an oath of abstention (ila) from his wives. The Prophet (peace be upon him) made the forbidden permissible (i.e., he retracted from it) and offered expiation for the oath.
