Chapter on Caliphate and Leadership – Report on rulers wishing they had not held any office
Hadith Number: 4483
اخبرنا احمد بن عبد الله بحران ، قال: حدثنا النفيلي ، قال: حدثنا موسى بن اعين ، عن معمر ، عن هشام بن حسان ، عن ابي حازم مولى ابي رهم الغفاري، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " ويل للامراء، ليتمنين اقوام انهم كانوا معلقين بذوائبهم بالثريا، وانهم لم يكونوا ولوا شيئا قط" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Woe to government officials! Soon there will be people who will wish that they were hung by their hair on the Pleiades, but that they were not appointed as officials (in any government position)."
