Chapter on Caliphate and Leadership - On the obligation to care for and safeguard a fellow Muslim under one's authority
Hadith Number: 4489
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا محمد بن ابي بكر المقدمي ، حدثنا حماد بن زيد ، عن ايوب ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " كلكم راع، وكلكم مسئول: فالامير راع على الناس وهو مسئول، والرجل راع على اهل بيته وهو مسئول، والمراة راعية على بيت زوجها وهي مسئولة، والعبد راع على مال سيده وهو مسئول، الا فكلكم راع وكلكم مسئول" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you will be questioned about his flock. The ruler is a shepherd over his subjects and he will be questioned about them. A man is a shepherd over the people of his house and he will be questioned about them. And a servant is a shepherd over his master's wealth and he will be questioned about it. Beware! Each of you is a shepherd and each of you will be questioned about his flock."
