Chapter on Obedience to Leaders - On clarifying that rulers are owed rights only if they care for their people
Hadith Number: 4584
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد الازدي ، قال: حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم ، قال: اخبرنا عبد الرزاق ، قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن ابن ابي ذئب ، عن سعيد المقبري ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" إن لي على قريش حقا، وإن لقريش عليكم حقا ما حكموا فعدلوا، وائتمنوا فادوا، واسترحموا فرحموا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have a right over the Quraysh and the Quraysh have a right over you people as long as they judge with justice when making decisions, fulfill the trust when entrusted with it, and show mercy when mercy is sought from them."
