Chapter on Racing - On the permissibility of racing between trained and untrained horses
Hadith Number: 4686
اخبرنا عمر بن سعيد بن سنان ، قال: اخبرنا احمد بن ابي بكر ، عن مالك ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " سابق بين الخيل التي قد ضمرت من الحفياء إلى ثنية الوداع، وكان امدها ثنية الوداع، وسابق بين الخيل التي لم تضمر من الثنية إلى مسجد بني زريق" . قال: وكان عبد الله فيمن سابق بها.
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) held a race between trained horses from "Hafya" to "Thaniyyat al-Wada’", and its end point was "Thaniyyat al-Wada’". And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) held a race between untrained horses from "Thaniyya" to "the mosque of Banu Zuraiq". The narrator states: Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) was also among those who participated in this race.
