Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the Ansar’s eagerness to ransom Al-Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib.
Hadith Number: 4794
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن السامي ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن ابي اويس ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم بن عقبة ، عن عمه موسى بن عقبة ، عن ابن شهاب ، عن انس بن مالك ، ان رجالا من الانصار استاذنوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقالوا: ائذن لنا يا رسول الله، فلنترك لابن اختنا العباس فداءه، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا والله لا تذرون درهما" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some Ansar sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Allow us to forgo the ransom of our nephew Abbas. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, by Allah! You will not forgo even a single dirham.
