Report Explaining the Previously Mentioned Ambiguous Phrase
Hadith Number: 5444
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، عن موسى بن عقبة ، عن سالم بن عبد الله ، عن ابيه ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " من جر ثوبه من الخيلاء، لم ينظر الله إليه يوم القيامة"، فقال ابو بكر: يا رسول الله، إن احد شقي إزاري يسترخي، إلا ان اتعاهد ذلك منه، فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إنك لست ممن يصنع ذلك خيلاء" .
Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever lets his garment hang below his ankles out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! My lower garment slips down from one side. I have to be very careful about it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him: You are not among those who do so out of arrogance.
