Chapter on Disliked and Permissible Speech – On the obligation to refrain from responding to insults
Hadith Number: 5728
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب ، قال: حدثنا القعنبي قال حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد ، عن العلاء ، عن ابيه ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " المستبان ما قالا، فعلى البادئ منهما ما لم يعتد المظلوم" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whatever two people who insult each other say: its burden is upon the one who started it, as long as the oppressed does not exceed the limits."
