Chapter on Poetry and Rhymed Prose – Warning against being so absorbed in poetry that it distracts from obligations and some voluntary acts
Hadith Number: 5779
اخبرنا ابو عروبة ، قال: حدثنا بشر بن خالد ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، عن شعبة ، عن سليمان ، عن ذكوان ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لان يمتلئ جوف احدكم قيحا حتى يريه، خير له من ان يمتلئ شعرا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "For a person to have his stomach completely filled with pus is better for him than to fill it with poetry."
