Sahih Ibn Hibban
كِتَابُ إِخْبَارِهِ ﷺ عَنْ مَنَاقِبِ الصَّحَابَةِ رِجَالِهِمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ بِذِكْرِ أَسْمَائِهِمْ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Book of the Prophet’s ﷺ Reports on the Virtues of the Companions, Men and Women, by Name
ذكر إجراء الحق على قلب عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه ولسانه-
Hadith Number: 6895
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن إبراهيم مولى ثقيف، حدثنا سوار بن عبد الله العنبري ، حدثنا ابو عامر العقدي ، حدثنا خارجة بن عبد الله الانصاري ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" إن الله جعل الحق على لسان عمر وقلبه" ، وقال ابن عمر: ما نزل بالناس امر قط، فقالوا فيه، وقال عمر بن الخطاب، إلا نزل القرآن على نحو مما قال عمر.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah the Exalted has placed the truth upon Umar's tongue and heart (or made it flow from them)." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Whenever a situation arose in which people held one opinion and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) held another opinion, the Qur'an was revealed in accordance with Sayyiduna Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) opinion.
