Sahih Ibn Hibban
كِتَابُ إِخْبَارِهِ ﷺ عَنْ مَنَاقِبِ الصَّحَابَةِ رِجَالِهِمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ بِذِكْرِ أَسْمَائِهِمْ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Book of the Prophet’s ﷺ Reports on the Virtues of the Companions, Men and Women, by Name
ذكر البيان بأن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه كان أحب الناس إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد أبي بكر رضي الله عنه-
Hadith Number: 6900
اخبرنا شباب بن صالح بواسط، حدثنا وهب بن بقية ، اخبرنا خالد ، عن خالد ، عن ابي عثمان النهدي ، حدثني عمرو بن العاص، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بعثه على جيش ذات السلاسل، قال: فاتيته، فقلت: " اي الناس احب إليك؟ قال: عائشة، قلت: من الرجال؟ قال: ابوها، قلت: ثم من؟ قال: ثم عمر بن الخطاب" .
Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him for the battle of "Dhat-us-Salasil." Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked: Who is the most beloved to you among the people? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Aisha. I asked: Among the men, who is it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Her father. I asked: Then who? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then Umar bin Khattab.
