Sahih Ibn Hibban
كِتَابُ إِخْبَارِهِ ﷺ عَنْ مَنَاقِبِ الصَّحَابَةِ رِجَالِهِمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ بِذِكْرِ أَسْمَائِهِمْ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Book of the Prophet’s ﷺ Reports on the Virtues of the Companions, Men and Women, by Name
ذكر تتبع ابن عمر آثار رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم واستعماله سنته بعده-
Hadith Number: 7074
اخبرنا ابن سلم ، حدثنا الحسن بن محمد بن الصباح الزعفراني بمكة، حدثنا شبابة ، عن عبد العزيز بن الماجشون ، عن عبيد الله بن عمر ، عن نافع ، قال:" كان ابن عمر يتتبع آثار رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وكل منزل نزله رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينزل فيه، فنزل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تحت سمرة، فكان ابن عمر يجيء بالماء، فيصبه في اصل السمرة كي لا تيبس" .
Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to diligently seek out the relics of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Every place where the Prophet (peace be upon him) had camped, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) would also camp there. The Prophet (peace be upon him) had once camped under an acacia tree, so Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would bring water and pour it at the root of that tree so that it would not dry up.
