Sahih Ibn Hibban
كِتَابُ إِخْبَارِهِ ﷺ عَنْ مَنَاقِبِ الصَّحَابَةِ رِجَالِهِمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ بِذِكْرِ أَسْمَائِهِمْ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Book of the Prophet’s ﷺ Reports on the Virtues of the Companions, Men and Women, by Name
ذكر البيان بأن المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لبلال لما قال له ذلك بها وصوب قوله-
Hadith Number: 7087
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، حدثني زيد بن الحباب ، حدثني حسين بن واقد ، حدثني عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم" سمع خشخشة امامه، فقال: من هذا؟ قالوا: بلال، فاخبره وقال: بم سبقتني إلى الجنة؟ فقال: يا رسول الله، ما احدثت إلا توضات، ولا توضات إلا رايت ان لله علي ركعتين اصليهما، قال صلى الله عليه وسلم: بها" .
Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) heard the sound of someone's footsteps ahead of him (in a dream), so he inquired: Who is this? The angels replied: It is Bilal. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) informed Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) about this and said: For what reason have you preceded me in Paradise? He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), whenever I become impure, I perform ablution, and whenever I perform ablution, I feel that I should offer two units of prayer (Tahiyyat al-Wudu) for the sake of Allah Almighty. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: It must be because of this.
