Chapter on a Sermon About the Virtue of His Noble Lineage and Pure Origin
Hadith Number: 11081
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) that it reached the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that some people had spoken indecently and inappropriately about his lineage. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit and said: O people, tell me! Who am I? The companions replied: You (peace and blessings be upon him) are the Messenger of Allah. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am Muhammad, son of Abdullah, son of Abdul Muttalib. When Allah Almighty created the creation, He made me in the best group of mankind. He made tribes, so He placed me in the best tribe. He made their households, so He placed me in the best household. In terms of household and my own self (that is, in every respect), I am the best among you all.

Chapter on a Sermon Urging Adherence to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ and Mention of the Hour
Hadith Number: 11082
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) praised Allah as He deserves, then said: Indeed, the truest word is the Book of Allah, the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the worst matters are newly invented ones, and every innovation is misguidance. Then, whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Day of Judgment, his voice would become loud, his cheeks would turn red, and his anger would increase, as if he were warning of an approaching army. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: The Hour has come upon you; I and the Hour have been sent like these two (fingers close together). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his index and middle fingers. The Hour will come upon you in the morning or in the evening. Whoever dies leaving wealth, it is for his heirs, and whoever leaves a debt or children, then it is upon me and my responsibility. By“ḍayā‘”is meant poor children.

Chapter on the Sermon of Need
Hadith Number: 11083
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the Khutbah of need, and that Khutbah was as follows: All praise is due to Allah, we seek His help, we ask His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls. Whomever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomever He lets go astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite these three verses: {یَا أَیُّہَا الَّذِیْنَ آمَنُوْ اتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِہِ وَلَا تَمُوْتُنَّ اِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُوْنَ۔ یَا أَیُّہَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوْا رَبَّکُمُ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَکُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَۃٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْہَا زَوْجَہَا وَبَثَّ مِنْہُمَا رِجَالًا کَثِیْرًا وَنِسَائً، وَاتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ الَّذِیْ تَسَائَ لُوْنَ بِہِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ کَانَ عَلَیْکُمْ رَقِیْبًا۔ یَا أَیُّہَا الَّذِیْنَ آمَنُوْا اتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ وَقُوْلُوْا قُوْلًا سَدِیْدًایُصْلِحْ لَکُمْ أَعْمَالَکُمْ وَیَغْفِرْلَکُمْ ذُنُوْبَکُمْ وَمَنْ یُّطِعِ اللّٰہَ وَرَسُوْلَہُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِیْمًا} O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims. (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 102) O mankind! Fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul and created from it its mate and spread from both many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the ties of kinship. Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, an Observer. (Surah An-Nisa: 1) O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. He will amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great success. (Surah Al-Ahzab: 70) Then mention your need and requirement.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to us after Asr until near sunset. Some of us remembered it and some forgot it, and in this sermon, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned important matters that would occur until the Day of Judgment. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This world is lush, sweet, and pleasing. Allah appoints you as successors in this world, meaning when one generation passes, another takes its place. He observes how you act. Beware! Refrain from amassing the world and from being overly attached to women. Beware! The children of Adam have been created in different categories: among them are those who are born in a state of faith, live in a state of faith, and die in a state of faith; and among them are those who are born in a state of disbelief, live in a state of disbelief, and die in a state of disbelief. And among them are those who are born in a state of disbelief, live in a state of disbelief, and die in a state of faith. And among them are those who are born in a state of faith, live in a state of faith, and die in a state of disbelief. Beware! Anger is a burning coal that burns in a person's belly. Do you not see that when a person is angry, his eyes become red and his veins swell? When any of you is overtaken by such a state, he should lie down on the ground. Beware! The best among people is the one who is slow to anger and quick to be pleased, and the worst person is the one who is quick to anger and slow to calm down. And the one who is slow to anger and slow to calm down, or the one who is quick to anger and quick to calm down, then these qualities are opposed to each other, meaning a good quality compensates for the bad quality. Among traders, the best is the one who pays well and demands his right well, and the worst trader is the one whose manner of payment is bad and whose manner of demanding his right is also bad. And whoever pays well but demands wrongly, or pays badly but demands well, then the good quality compensates for the bad quality. Beware! For every deceiver, a flag will be set up on the Day of Judgment as a sign, and the greater his deception, the higher his flag will be. The greatest deception is that of the ruler over the common people. Beware! Whoever knows the truth should not let the fear of people prevent him from speaking the truth. Beware! Remember that speaking the word of truth before a tyrant ruler is the best jihad. And when the sun was about to set, he said: The example of the elapsed period of the world and the remaining period of the world is like the remaining part of the day compared to the part of the day that has passed.

(Second Chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) one day led us in the Asr prayer at its earliest time, then he stood and addressed us until sunset. He (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of everything that was to happen until the Day of Judgment; some remembered it and some forgot it. What follows is similar to the previous hadith, except that in this one it is mentioned: On the Day of Judgment, near the backside of every deceiver, a flag will be raised according to the extent of his deception. In this hadith, it is also mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you not see the eyes of an angry man become red and his veins swell? When any of you becomes extremely angry, he should sit on the ground. In this hadith, it is also mentioned that there is nothing superior to speaking the word of truth before a tyrant ruler. When any of you sees an opportunity to speak the truth or is present in a place where it is necessary to speak the truth, then the fear of people should not prevent you from speaking the truth. After this, Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said: By Allah! The fear of people has prevented us from speaking the word of truth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Through you, the number of seventy nations is being completed, that is, you are the seventieth nation; you are the best and most honored in the sight of Allah. After this, when the sun began to set, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The proportion of the elapsed time of the world to its remaining time is like the proportion of the elapsed part of the day to the remaining time until sunset.

Chapter on a Sermon Warning Against Wealth and the World
Hadith Number: 11088
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said from the pulpit: Indeed, what I fear most for you is that which Allah will bring forth for you from the earth in the form of its grapes and the wealth and luxuries of the world. A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Does good also bring evil? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent until we saw that revelation began to descend upon him, his breath became heavy, and he began to sweat profusely. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Where is the questioner? He said: Here I am, and my intention was only good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, good only brings good, indeed, good only brings good, indeed, good only brings good. The real matter is that this world is lush and sweet. Whatever the spring grows, due to the swelling of the belly, it either kills or brings close to killing. An animal keeps eating fodder until its stomachs are filled, then it lies down in the sun and passes thin dung and urine, and then starts eating again. The point is, whoever acquires the world with its due right, there will be blessing in it for him, and whoever takes it without right, there will be no blessing in it for him; rather, he will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied.

Hadith Number: 11089
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day, when the sun had declined, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Zuhr prayer. After completing the prayer with salam, he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the pulpit and mentioned the Day of Judgment and the major events that will occur until the Day of Judgment. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wants to ask about anything, let him ask. By Allah! As long as I am in this place, whatever you ask me, I will tell you about it. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) states that when people heard these words from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), everyone wept profusely, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating: Ask me, ask me. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a man stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah! What will be my fate in the Hereafter? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Hell. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hudhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! This was said by you (peace and blessings be upon him) in a limited manner, that as long as I am present in this place, I will answer your questions. Obviously, you were told to inform people to a certain extent. This does not prove that you possess knowledge of the unseen, because this is an attribute of Allah, which is indicated by many Qur’anic texts, and from many incidents and hadiths, it is negated regarding you. This is not the place for detail. (Abdullah Rafiq) Who is my father? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Hudhafah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying repeatedly: Ask, and ask. Seeing this state, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sat down on his knees and said: We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as our Messenger. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul! Just now, while I was leading the prayer, Paradise and Hell were presented before me on this wall, and in terms of good and bad, I have never seen a day like today.

It is narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Abd Rab Ka'bah, he says: I presented myself before Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), he was sitting in the shade of the Ka'bah. I heard him say that once we were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he stopped at a certain place. Some of us began to set up their tents, some untied their animals to graze, and some started practicing archery. Meanwhile, the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced that the prayer was about to be established. We all gathered together. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and delivered a sermon and said: Every prophet before me taught his ummah everything he considered good for them, and warned them against everything he considered bad for them. For the earliest part of this ummah, only well-being has been kept. And the latter part of the ummah will face severe trials and hardships. Such tribulations and calamities will come that the severity of the later tribulation will make the previous one seem light. When a tribulation comes, the believer will say, "This tribulation will destroy me," then it will pass. Then another tribulation will come, and the believer will say the same thing again, then that too will pass. Whoever among you wishes to be saved from Hell and admitted to Paradise, he should die in a state of true faith in Allah and the Hereafter. And he should treat others as he likes to be treated by them. And whoever pledges allegiance to a ruler and makes a covenant of loyalty with him, he should obey him as much as he can. If another man comes and disputes with that ruler, then you should strike off the neck of the latter. Abdur Rahman bin Abd Rab al-Ka'bah says: After hearing these things, I put my head among the people and said, "I ask you by Allah, did you hear these things from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) yourself?" He pointed to his ears with his hands and said, "My ears have heard these things and my heart has retained them." So I said, "Your cousin Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) orders us to unjustly consume each other's wealth and to kill our Muslim brothers, while Allah Almighty says: {یَا أَیُّہَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْکُلُوا أَمْوَالَکُمْ بَیْنَکُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ} ... O you who believe! Do not consume one another's wealth unjustly. (Surah An-Nisa: 29)" So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) put both his hands together on his forehead and bowed his head for a while, then raised his head and said, "If he commands obedience to Allah, then obey him, and if he commands disobedience to Allah, then do not obey him."
