It is narrated from Umar bin Ibrahim Yashkari, who says: I heard my mother narrate that she went towards the House of Allah with the intention of Hajj. In those days, the House of Allah had two doors. She says: After completing the Tawaf, I went to the service of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). I said: O Mother of the Believers, your son sends you greetings. In those days, people used to say very wrong and unjust things about Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). What do you say about this? She said: Whoever curses Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), upon him is the curse of Allah. I think she repeated this statement three times. I myself have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a state that he had placed his head on the thigh of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and I was wiping the sweat from the forehead of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and revelation was descending upon him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married his two daughters, one after the other, to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say to him: "Uthman! Write." Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Allah Almighty grants such a status with His Prophet only to one of His chosen servants.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Quraysh made a treaty with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Suhayl bin Amr was among their delegation. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): Write“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”Suhayl said: We do not know what“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”is. Write only the phrase that we know; write your name and your father’s name. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Write,“This treaty is from Muhammad, son of Abdullah.”They made it a condition with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that if any of your people come to us, we will not return him, but if any of our men come to you, you will return him to us. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we write this condition as well? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Whoever leaves us and goes to them, may Allah keep him away from us. Write“In Your name, O Allah.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Write,“This treaty is from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah.”Upon this, Suhayl again said: If we had accepted that you are Allah’s Messenger, we would have followed you; do it this way that...

Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that after the incident of the martyrdom of the memorizers (huffaz) in the battle of Yamama, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) called me. When I presented myself, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was also sitting with him. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who has come to me and says that there have been many martyrdoms of the memorizers of the Qur’an in Yamama. I fear that if the martyrdoms of the memorizers of the Qur’an continue like this, most of the Qur’an will be lost and it will not be preserved. Therefore, in my opinion, an order should be given to compile the Qur’an. But I replied to him: How can I do something which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not do? But he said: By Allah! This is a good deed. Then he kept insisting on this matter with me until Allah Almighty opened my chest (i.e., convinced me), and I also liked this opinion. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: O Zaid! You are a wise young man and a trustworthy person, and you used to write down the revelation for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), therefore, you must carry out this service. Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! If they had tasked me with moving a mountain from one place to another, it would not have been as burdensome upon me as the responsibility they placed on me to compile the Qur’an. So I said: How will you people do something which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not do? However, after their insistence, I accepted this responsibility.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given a white mule as a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rode it, and Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) was leading it. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Recite. He said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I recite? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite {قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ}. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this surah until Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited it. But when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that he was not very pleased with this surah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It seems you consider it insignificant; you have not recited a surah like this in prayer (meaning this is an unparalleled surah to be recited in prayer).

It is narrated from Uthman bin Sa’d the scribe, he says: Ibn Sirin told me: I had a sword made like the sword of Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had said that he had a sword made like the sword of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). That sword was in the design of the swords of Banu Hanifah (the people of Musaylimah the Liar).

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept his sword Zulfiqar as a gift (or from the spoils of war) on the day of the Battle of Badr. This is the same sword about which you saw a dream on the day of Uhud, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw a notch in my sword Zulfiqar; its interpretation is that you will face defeat. I saw that I had mounted a ram behind me; I interpreted this as the brave one of the army will be martyred. I saw that I was wearing a secure coat of mail; I interpreted this as Madinah will remain protected. I saw that a cow was being slaughtered; by Allah, this is better. Whatever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, that is exactly what happened.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered Makkah Mukarramah on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, and at that time there was a helmet on his head. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, removed it, a man came and submitted to him, peace and blessings be upon him, that Ibn Khatal, the disbeliever, is hanging onto the curtains of the Ka'bah. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Kill him. Imam Malik states that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was not in the state of Ihram that day. And Allah knows best.
