Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Every action that is not begun with the praise of Allah Almighty remains incomplete.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every action that is not begun with the praise of Allah is incomplete."

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, my example and the example of that with which Allah has sent me is like a man who comes to his people and says: O my people! I have seen an army (approaching), and I am warning you (i.e., I am alerting you), so a group from his people obeys him, and they quietly leave and are saved, while another group denies him. They remain in their place, and in the morning the enemy attacks them and destroys them and ruins them. So this is the example of the one who obeys me and follows what I have brought, and the example of the one who disobeys me and denies the truth which I have brought."

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:“The example of the guidance and knowledge that Allah Almighty has bestowed upon me is like rain that falls on a land. Some part of that land is pure; it accepts the water and produces abundant grass and fodder, or it retains the water, and Allah Almighty benefits people through it—they drink from it themselves, give it to their animals, and use it for cultivation. This rain also falls on another part of the land, which is a barren plain; it neither retains the water nor grows any grass. This is the example of the person who attains understanding of Allah’s religion, and Allah Almighty benefits him through what I have been sent with—he acquires knowledge and acts upon it. And this is the example of the person who does not raise his head for it (i.e., does not pay attention to it) and does not accept the guidance of Allah with which I have been sent.”

Abdur Rahman bin Amr Salmi and Hujr bin Hujr Kalai narrate: We went to the service of Sayyiduna Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), he is the companion about whom this verse was revealed:
"And nor upon those who, when they came to you that you might provide them with mounts, you said: 'I do not find that which I can mount you upon.'"
We greeted him and said: We have come to visit you and to benefit from you. So Sayyiduna Irbad said: One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the morning prayer, then he turned towards us and gave us an eloquent admonition, as a result of which tears flowed from the eyes and hearts trembled. One person said: O Messenger of Allah! This seems like a farewell admonition, so what do you instruct us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I advise you to fear Allah, and to obey and follow (the ruler), even if he is an Abyssinian slave whose (ears or nose) have been cut. Whoever among you lives (long) will soon see much difference. (In such a situation) it is obligatory upon you to follow my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided, guiding caliphs. Hold onto it firmly and cling to it tightly, and beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented thing is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "So it is obligatory upon you to follow my Sunnah," are regarding the situation when he mentioned the differences that would arise in his Ummah. So this is a clear statement that whoever adheres to the Sunnah (i.e., regularly acts upon it), gives opinions according to it, and does not give precedence to other opinions over it, then such a person will be among the saved group on the Day of Judgment. May Allah, by His grace and mercy, include us among them.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: (On one occasion) the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line before us and said:“This is the path of Allah.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew some other lines to the right and left of that line, and then said:“These are different paths, upon each of which there is a devil calling towards it.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse:“Indeed, this is My path, which is straight.”He recited this verse till the end.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line in front of us, and on its right and left he drew some other lines as well. He (peace be upon him) said: These are different paths, and on each of these paths there is a devil sitting, calling towards that path. Then he (peace be upon him) recited this verse:“Indeed, this is My path, which is straight. So follow it, and do not follow other paths, for they will separate you from His path.”This is the complete verse.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), although it would have been more appropriate for the Companions to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) this question. The Bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) come? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: What preparation have you made for it? He replied: I have not made any special preparation for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, you will be with those whom you love.

Sayyiduna Anas narrates: I have never seen the people as happy about anything after accepting Islam as they were upon hearing this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The wife of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him) came; her name was Khawla bint Hakim. She came to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and her condition was bad. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked her: What has happened to you? She replied: My husband spends the whole night in voluntary prayers and fasts during the day. (During this time) the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned this matter to him. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Uthman! Monasticism has not been made obligatory upon us. Is there not the best example for you in my way? By Allah! I fear Allah more than all of you and I am most mindful of His limits among you."

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon, his eyes would become red. His voice would become loud. His passion would increase, to the extent that it seemed as if he was warning of an attacking army. He (peace be upon him) would say: "It (the attack) may come upon you in the morning or evening." He (peace be upon him) would say: "I and the Hour have been sent like these two," and he would hold up his index and middle fingers, showing the gap between them. And he (peace be upon him) would say: "To proceed! The best speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance brought by Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Verily, the worst of matters are newly invented ones, and every innovation is misguidance." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "I am closer to every believer than his own self. Whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his family, and whoever leaves behind debt or dependents, then they are to come to me, and their payment is my responsibility."
