Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O two-eared one." The narrator, Mahmood (bin Ghailan), says that Abu Usamah said: That is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) joked with him.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that indeed the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to mingle with us so much that once he said to my younger brother: "O father of Umair! What happened to your Nughayr?" Imam Abu Isa (Tirmidhi) says: From this hadith, it is known that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to joke as well, and from this hadith, it is also known that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a child the kunyah Abu Umair. It is also understood that there is nothing wrong in giving a bird to a child so that he may play with it, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: «يا أبا عمير ما فعل النغير» , by which it is meant that this child had a nughayr with which he used to play, and when that nughayr died, the child became sad. Thus, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in a playful and cheerful manner, said to him: «يا أبا عمير ما فعل النغير» .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that some of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) asked: O Messenger of Allah! Do you also joke? He replied:“(Yes,) but I do not say anything except the truth.”Imam Tirmidhi says that the word «عربی عبارت» mentioned in this narration means «تداعبنا» , that is, you joke with us.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: A man asked the Noble Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, for a mount. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I will mount you on the offspring of a she-camel." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! What will I do with the offspring of a she-camel?" The Noble Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Isn’t a (rideable) camel also born of a she-camel?"

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was a man from the countryside whose name was Zahir. Whenever he came to serve the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would present some gift from the countryside to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then, when he intended to leave, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would give him some gift in return. On one occasion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Zahir is our villager and we are his townspeople.”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved this man, and he was somewhat unattractive in appearance. One day, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him while he was selling some of his goods. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came from behind and placed his hands over his eyes and embraced him so that he could not see who it was. He began to say:“Who is this? Let me go.”When he recognized the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he pressed his back against the blessed chest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Who will buy this slave?”He said:“O Messenger of Allah! You will find me a worthless bargain.”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“But you are not worthless in the sight of Allah.”Or he said:“You are very valuable in the sight of Allah.”

It is narrated from Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said: An old woman came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray for me that I may enter Paradise. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O mother of so-and-so! No old woman will enter Paradise." Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, says that the old woman went back weeping, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Inform her that no woman will enter in a state of old age (rather, she will enter as a young maiden), as Allah the Exalted has said: «إنا أنشأناهن إنشاء فجعلناهن أبكارا عربا أترابا» , that We have created them in a special manner, that they will be virgins, beloved, and of equal age."
