The brother of the Mother of the Believers, Lady Juwayriya (may Allah be pleased with her), the Companion of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Harith (al-Mustaliqi) (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left behind nothing except some weapons, a mule, and some land, which he (peace be upon him) had given in charity.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Who will be your heir?" He replied: "My family and children." She said: "Then why am I not the heir of my father?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'We do not have heirs.'" But I will provide for those whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to provide for, and I will spend on those on whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to spend.

Abu al-Bakhtari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abbas and Sayyiduna Ali al-Murtada (may Allah be pleased with them both) brought their dispute to the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Both were accusing each other of disorderliness, saying, "You are like this," and "You are like that." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Talha, Zubair, Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with them): "I ask you by Allah, did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'All the wealth of a Prophet is charity, except what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has fed his family from. Surely, we do not leave heirs.'" There is also a lengthy incident in this hadith.

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We (the group of Prophets) do not leave heirs; whatever we leave behind is charity."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "My heirs should not distribute dirhams and dinars from my inheritance; whatever remains after taking out the expenses for my wives and my worker should be given in charity."

Malik bin Aws bin Hadthan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I went to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and there Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, Sayyiduna Talha, and Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with them all) also arrived. Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Ali al-Murtaza and Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) also came there while arguing with each other. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them: I ask you by the One by whose command the heavens and the earth are established, do you know the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:“We (the group of Prophets) do not leave inheritance; whatever we leave behind is charity.”They replied: Yes. There is also a long story mentioned in this hadith.

Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave behind any dirham or dinar, nor any goat or camel. The narrator says: I am doubtful about (whether he left behind) a male or female slave.
