Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me to Yemen. I said: O Messenger of Allah! There are some (specific) drinks found there, which of them may I drink and which should I avoid? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Which (drinks) are those?" I said: They are "bit‘" and "mizr." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: "What are bit‘ and mizr?" I said: The nabidh (fermented drink) of honey is called "bit‘" and the nabidh of corn is called "mizr." -" لا يشرب الخمر رجل من امتي فتقبل له صلاة اربعين صباحا".
Ibn Daylami, who had settled in Bayt al-Maqdis, stayed in Madinah in search of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him). When he inquired about Abdullah, he was told that he had gone towards Makkah. He also set out after him, and upon arriving in Makkah, he learned that he had departed towards Ta’if. He set out for Ta’if in search of him and finally found him in a field. He was walking with a Qurayshi man, notorious for drinking wine, with their hands on each other's waists. When I met them, I greeted them with salam, and they replied to my greeting. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What has brought you here? Where have you come from? I narrated the whole incident to him and then asked: O Abdullah bin Amr! Have you heard anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding wine? He said: Yes. (Upon hearing this) the Qurayshi withdrew his hand and left. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever from my Ummah drinks wine, his prayer is not accepted for forty days."

Sayyiduna Firoz (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You know who we are, where we have come from, and to whom we have come? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "To Allah and His Messenger." We said: O Messenger of Allah! We have grapes with us, what should we do with them? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Make raisins from them." We said: What should we do with the raisins? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "In the morning, make nabidh from them and drink it in the evening, and likewise, make it in the evening and drink it in the morning. And make nabidh in water skins, not in earthen pots, because if it is delayed, it turns into vinegar in the pots."

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I found out that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was fasting, so I made nabidh (a drink) in a gourd vessel and waited for the time of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) iftar. When I brought it to him, it was fermenting. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Throw it against the wall, for indeed it is the drink of those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day.”
