Playing with shields and spears on Eid.
Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and I had two girls with me who were singing about the battle of Bu'ath. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) lay down and turned his face away. Then Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came and scolded me and said, "Musical instruments of Satan in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked towards him and said, "Leave them." Then when Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) became occupied with another task, I signaled to the two girls and they left. It was the day of Eid and the Abyssinians were playing with shields and spears. Either I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), or the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me, "Do you want to watch this play?" I said, "Yes." So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me stand behind him. My cheek was touching his (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cheek. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was saying, "Play, play, O Banu Arfidah." Until when I became bored, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Enough?" I said, "Yes." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Go."

Eating before going out for Eid al-Fitr prayer.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would wait on the day of Eid al-Fitr until the day had risen, and then he would eat a few dates (i.e., before the Eid prayer). In another narration, it is mentioned that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat an odd number of dates.

When to eat on Eid al-Adha.
Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying in the sermon: "The first thing we will do on this (Eid) day is to perform the prayer, then return and offer the sacrifice. So whoever does this has reached our way (Sunnah)."

Narrated by Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delivered a sermon before us on the day of Eid al-Adha after the prayer. He said:“Whoever offers the prayer as we do and sacrifices as we do, then he has indeed followed our way. And whoever sacrifices before the prayer, then (the sacrifice) he made before the prayer is invalid, and it is not a sacrifice.”

Then Abu Burdah bin Niyar (may Allah be pleased with him), the maternal uncle of Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him), said: O Messenger of Allah! I sacrificed my goat before the prayer, and I thought that today is a day of eating and drinking, and I wanted my goat to be the first to be slaughtered in my house, so I slaughtered my goat and ate some breakfast before coming for the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Your goat is a goat for meat (not for sacrifice).”

So he said: O Messenger of Allah! We have a kid (young goat) which is dearer to me than two goats. Will it suffice for me? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Yes, and it will not suffice for anyone after you.”

Going to Eid prayer without a pulpit.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to go to the Eid prayer place on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The first thing with which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would begin was the prayer. After completing the prayer, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stand facing the people while they remained seated in their rows, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would advise them and give them commands. Afterwards, if he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wished to dispatch an army, he would prepare it, or if he wanted to command something else, he would give the order, then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would return.

Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The people continued upon this practice until I went out with Marwan for Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr, and he was the governor of Madinah at that time. When we reached the Eid prayer place, a pulpit was placed there, which Kathir bin Salt had prepared. Suddenly, as Marwan intended to ascend it before the prayer, I grabbed his garment. He freed himself from me and ascended. He delivered the sermon before the prayer, so I said to him: By Allah! You have changed (the Sunnah of the Prophet). He replied: O Abu Sa'id! What you know has now passed. I said: By Allah! What I know is better than what I do not know. Then he said: People would not remain seated for us after the prayer, so I delivered the sermon before the prayer.
