Prayer during solar eclipse.
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when a solar eclipse occurred, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and, in haste, dragged his cloak and went to the mosque. We also entered with him. Then he led us in two rak‘ahs of prayer until the sun became bright again. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone’s death. When you see this condition, then pray and supplicate until that state passes.”In another narration, it is said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“But through them Allah frightens His servants.”The hadith of the eclipse has been narrated several times. In a similar hadith, Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu‘bah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), once a solar eclipse occurred on the day when Sayyiduna Ibrahim (the son of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away. So people said that the solar eclipse occurred because of the death of Sayyiduna Ibrahim. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone’s death nor because of anyone’s life. Therefore, when you see (the eclipse), then pray and supplicate to Allah.”

Giving charity during eclipse.
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), (once) there was a solar eclipse, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the people in prayer and (in the prayer) stood for a very long time. Then he bowed (ruku‘) and that too was very long. Then (after ruku‘) he stood again and that standing was also very long, but less than the first standing. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made a long ruku‘, and it was less than the first ruku‘. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrated and made a very long prostration. Then in the second rak‘ah, he did the same as he had done in the first rak‘ah. After that, he completed the prayer and by that time the sun had become clear. Then he delivered a sermon before the people, praised and glorified Allah, and said:“The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of anyone’s death nor because of anyone’s life. So when you see this, supplicate to Allah, declare His greatness, pray, and give charity.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“O Ummah of Muhammad! By Allah! No one is more protective than Allah that His servant or His maidservant should commit adultery. O Ummah of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.”

Seeking refuge from grave punishment during eclipse.
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that a Jewish woman came to her to ask something and (as a supplication for Ummul Momineen Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her) said, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave." So Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Will people be punished in their graves?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sought refuge from the punishment of the grave and said: "Yes." Then (Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned the hadith about the eclipse and at the end said that (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded the people to seek refuge from the punishment of the grave.

Praying eclipse prayer in congregation.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated the long hadith about the eclipse, then said that the people submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! (At that time) we saw you standing in your place, reaching out your hand as if to take something, then we saw you step back." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw Paradise, and I reached out towards a bunch of grapes. If I had taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remained. And (after that) Hell was shown to me, and I have never seen a more terrifying sight than today, and I saw that most of the inhabitants of Hell were women." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Why is that?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because of their ingratitude." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "They are ungrateful to their husbands and do not acknowledge favors. If you do good to one of them for a lifetime, then she sees something (displeasing) from you, she will say (without hesitation), 'I have never seen any good from you.'"

Remembering Allah during eclipse.
`Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says (on one occasion) there was a solar eclipse, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up in fear, fearing that perhaps the Day of Judgment might come. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the mosque and performed prayer with very long standing, bowing, and prostration; I have never seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pray such a lengthy prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "These are signs which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, sends to frighten His servants. It does not happen because of anyone's death nor because of anyone's life, but through it Allah frightens His servants. Therefore, when you see it, turn towards the remembrance of Allah, supplicate to Him, and seek forgiveness from Him."

Reciting aloud in eclipse prayer.
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud in the prayer of eclipse (Salat al-Kusuf). Then, when he finished his recitation, he said the takbir and performed ruku‘ (bowing), and when he raised his head from ruku‘, he said:“Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka al-hamd.”Then he began reciting again (but this was only) in the prayer of eclipse, i.e., the prayer for the eclipse (Salat al-Kusuf), that he (peace be upon him) did this. Thus, in this prayer, within two rak‘ahs, there were four ruku‘ and four sujud (prostrations).
