What is reported about prostration of recitation and its method.
Narrated Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited Surah An-Najm in Makkah and performed a prostration (sajdah) in it, and all the people with him performed the prostration except for one old man. He took a handful of pebbles or soil and raised it to his forehead and said, "This is sufficient for me." So I saw him in the end that he was killed in a state of disbelief (he was not granted Islam).

Prostration in Surah Sad is established.
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that the prostration in Surah Sad is not among the obligatory prostrations, and indeed I have seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrate in it.

Muslims prostrating with polytheists, even if they are impure.
Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed the prostration (Sajdah) of Surah An-Najm. The narration of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) has already been mentioned nearby (see the chapter: What has been reported about the prostration of the Qur'an and its method?). And along with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), at that time, the Muslims and the polytheists, and both jinn and mankind, all performed the prostration.

Prostration in Surah Inshiqaq is established.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited Surah (Idha as-Sama'un Shaqqat) and performed a prostration in it. He was asked about this, so he said: If I had not seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performing the prostration, I would not have performed it.

If crowded, unable to prostrate at the place of recitation.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would recite before us a Surah in which there was a verse of prostration, so he (peace be upon him) would perform prostration and we (also at that time) would perform prostration with him (peace be upon him), so much so that we would crowd together, to the extent that some of us would not find a place to put their forehead to perform prostration.
