Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Obligation and virtue of Umrah
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "One ‘Umrah is an expiation for all the sins committed between it and the next ‘Umrah, and the only reward for an accepted Hajj is nothing but the Paradise which Allah, the Exalted, has prepared."
One who performed Umrah before Hajj
It was asked from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about performing Umrah before Hajj, so he said that there is no harm in it. He further said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah before Hajj.
How many Umrahs the Prophet performed
It was asked from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): "How many Umrahs did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perform?" Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "Four. One of them was in Rajab." Then the questioner said: "I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): 'Have you heard what Abu Abdur Rahman (Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) is saying?'" Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: "What is he saying?" He said: "He says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed four Umrahs, one of which was in Rajab." Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdur Rahman. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Umrah, he was certainly with him, but (even then he forgot) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never performed Umrah in the month of Rajab."
It was asked from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) how many Umrahs did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform? He said, four: one Umrah at Hudaibiyah in Dhul-Qa'dah, where the polytheists turned him back, and one Umrah of Qada in Dhul-Qa'dah the following year, when he made peace with the polytheists, and one Umrah at Ji'ranah (he performed) at the time when he distributed the spoils of war (perhaps of Hunayn). The narrator says, I asked, how many Hajj did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform? Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, only one (i.e., the Farewell Hajj).
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated in one narration that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed one ‘Umrah when the polytheists turned him back, and one ‘Umrah in the year following Hudaybiyyah, and one ‘Umrah in Dhu al-Qa‘dah, and one ‘Umrah along with his Hajj (Farewell Pilgrimage).
Narrated from Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Umrah twice in the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah before performing Hajj.
Entering Ihram for Umrah from Taneem
‘Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered him to go with Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and to perform ‘Umrah for her from Taneem. And Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju’sham (may Allah be pleased with him) met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at Jamrah ‘Aqabah when he was throwing pebbles at it. He asked,“O Messenger of Allah! Is this act of changing Hajj into ‘Umrah specific to you?”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied,“No! Rather, this is permissible forever.”
Performing Umrah after Hajj without a sacrificial animal
The hadith of Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding Hajj has been mentioned repeatedly and in detail (see Hadith: 791, 792, 869).
The more hardship in Umrah, the greater the reward
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that in this narration, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her regarding Umrah: "But its reward will be according to your expenditure or according to your hardship."
When to exit Ihram after Umrah
Whenever Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with her) passed by the place of Hajun, she would say: May Allah send mercy upon His Messenger (peace be upon him). Indeed, we stayed at this place along with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and at that time we were light (in possessions), our mounts were few, and we had little provision for the journey. So I, my sister Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), Zubair, and such-and-such person (after breaking the intention of Hajj) performed Umrah. Thus, after performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah, we came out of the state of Ihram, then in the afternoon of the third day, we entered into Ihram for Hajj.
