If a non-Muhrim hunts and gifts it to a Muhrim, it is permissible for the Muhrim to eat
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him):
We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the year of Hudaybiyyah. The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) hastily put on ihram, but I had not yet put on ihram. Then we were informed that there was an enemy at the place of Ghaiqah who wanted to fight. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) proceeded, and I (Abu Qatadah) was also with his companions. Then my companions saw a wild donkey (onager), and they began to look at each other and laugh (I realized they were laughing at the sight of game). Then I also looked up and saw the wild donkey. I chased it on my horse and shot it with an arrow, bringing it down. Then I asked those people for help, but they refused to help me (so I slaughtered it myself). Then we all ate its meat. After that, I rode my horse at full speed to search for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). We became afraid that we might be separated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then (on the way) I met a man from Banu Ghifar. I asked him, "Where did you leave the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" He said, "I left the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the spring called Ta‘hn, and his intention was to rest at the place of Suqya." (After asking this, I set off) and joined the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When I reached him, I said, "O Messenger of Allah! The companions have sent me; they send you peace and Allah's mercy, and they fear that the enemy may separate them from you, so please wait for them." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did so. Then I said, "O Messenger of Allah! We hunted a wild donkey, and we have some of its meat left." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to his companions, "Eat." Even though they were all in ihram.

A Muhrim should not help a non-Muhrim in hunting
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates in one narration that we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the place of Qahah, three miles from Madinah, and some of us were in the state of Ihram and some were not in Ihram. Then the entire hadith was narrated. See the chapter: If a person not in Ihram hunts and gives it as a gift to a person in Ihram, then it is permissible for the person in Ihram to eat it... It is narrated in another narration from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace be upon him) asked the companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "Did any of you tell Abu Qatadah to attack that game?" Narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that Sa'b bin Jaththamah Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) presented a wild donkey as a gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while he (peace be upon him) was at the place of Abwa or the place of Waddan, so he (peace be upon him) returned it. Narrated Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): While we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a cave at Mina, Surah Al-Mursalat was revealed to him. He began to recite it, and I started memorizing it from him as he recited. While he was still reciting it, suddenly a snake leapt towards us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Kill it." So we rushed towards it, but it escaped. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said: "It has been saved from your harm just as you have been saved from its harm."
