Sharing food, provisions, and belongings.
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that (on one occasion) the people’s provisions ran low and they became needy, so they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to seek permission to slaughter their camels. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted them permission. Then (the Commander of the Faithful) Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) met them and they informed him of this. He said,“After your camels are gone, how will you survive?”They then went back to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said,“O Messenger of Allah! After the camels are gone, how will they survive?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Announce among the people that they should bring their remaining provisions.”A leather mat was spread out for this, and all the provisions were scattered over the leather. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and supplicated, and requested blessing from the Lord of the worlds for it. Then all the people were called with their vessels. The people began to take handfuls with both hands, until everyone had left. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“I bear witness that there is no true deity except Allah, and I am the Messenger of Allah.”

Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the people of the Ash'ari tribe run short of provisions during a campaign, or when the food of their families in Madinah becomes scarce, they gather all their possessions in one cloth and then distribute it among themselves equally with a single measure. So, they are from me and I am from them."

How to divide goats.
Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at Dhul-Hulaifah. The people felt hungry, then they found some camels and goats. Sayyiduna Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was behind, so the people hurried and slaughtered (the goats and camels) and put the pots on the fire. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered that the pots be overturned. After that, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) distributed them and considered ten goats equal to one camel. One of the camels from among them ran away, and the people chased after it. It tired them out, and there were few horses with the people. Then one man struck it with an arrow, and Allah stopped it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Among these animals, some are as wild as wild animals, so if any of them overpowers you, do the same with it.”I (Rafi’) said: We fear the enemy may come upon us tomorrow, and we do not have knives, so can we slaughter with a piece of bamboo? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whatever causes blood to flow, and Allah’s name is mentioned upon it (at the time of slaughter), eat of it, provided the tool is neither a tooth nor a nail. I will explain the reality of this to you: a tooth is a bone (and it is not correct to slaughter with bone), and a nail is the slaughtering tool of the Abyssinians (disbelievers), and using it would be resembling them.”

Valuing shared items among partners by a just person is allowed.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "Whoever frees his (jointly owned) slave to the extent of his share, it is necessary for him to secure the slave's complete freedom from his own wealth. Then, if he does not have enough wealth, the value of the slave should be estimated by a just person, and the slave should be made to work to pay it off, but he should not be forced (for this work)."

Is drawing lots allowed in division?
Narrated by Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: The example of the person who abides by Allah’s limits and the one who transgresses them is like a group of people who drew lots for their places in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part and some in the lower part. When those in the lower part needed water, they had to go to those above them. So they said,“If we were to make a hole in our part, we would not have to trouble those above us.”If the people above let them do what they intended, all would be destroyed; but if they stopped them, both they and all the others would be saved.

Partnership in grain, etc.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother took him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and she said, "O Messenger of Allah! Take his pledge of allegiance." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He is small." (It is of no use to take his pledge now.) Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his hand on his head and prayed for him. This same (Abdullah bin Hisham, may Allah be pleased with him) used to go to the market and buy grain. Then sometimes Sayyiduna Ibn Umar and Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) would meet him and say, "Include us as partners, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed for blessing for you." So he would include them as partners, and most of the time a whole camel (as profit with the grain) would come to his share, and he would send it to his home.
