مختصر صحيح بخاري
Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
On oaths and vows.
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "O Abdur Rahman bin Samurah! Do not ask for authority, because if it is given to you as a result of your asking, then you will be left to it (without divine help), but if it is given to you without your asking, then you will be helped in it (by Allah). And when you swear an oath (not to do something) and then you see that it is better to do it, then offer expiation for your oath and do that (better) thing."
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "We have come after the previous nations, but on the Day of Resurrection we will be foremost." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah! If any of you insists on his oath regarding his family, then the sin of this insistence in the sight of Allah is greater than the sin of the expiation that has been made obligatory upon him."
How the Prophet used to swear oaths.
`Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I went to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time he was sitting in the shade of the Ka'bah, saying: "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! Those people are in great loss, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! Those people are in great loss, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!" I thought (perhaps the Prophet, peace be upon him, was addressing me), so I asked, "What have I done? What action of mine have you seen?" Then I sat down. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept repeating the same words, and I could not remain silent, and Allah knows the distress and grief that overcame me at that time. I asked again, "Who are those people, may my parents be sacrificed for you?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Those who possess much wealth, except those who spend it like this, and like this, and like this (i.e., in front, to the right, and to the left in the way of Allah), and they are few."
Narrated Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him):
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he was holding the hand of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "No, O Umar! By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, (your faith will not be complete) until I am dearer to you than your own self." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Indeed, now you are dearer to me than my own self." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Umar! Now your faith is complete."

Allah’s saying:“They swear by Allah with their strongest oaths…”(An-Nur: 24).
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The Fire will not touch any Muslim whose three children have died, except for the fulfillment of an oath."
One who breaks an oath by mistake.
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said, "Allah the Exalted has pardoned my Ummah for the whispers and thoughts of the heart, as long as they do not act upon them or speak about them."
Making vows in obedience to Allah.
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever swears an oath that he will obey Allah, he should obey Him; and whoever swears an oath that he will disobey (Allah), he should not disobey Him."
If someone dies owing a vow.
`Sayyiduna Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for a verdict regarding his mother's vow, which she had made but passed away before fulfilling it. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "You should fulfill it on her behalf."
Vowing for something not owned or sinful.
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was delivering a sermon when he saw a man standing. The Prophet (peace be upon him) inquired: "Who is this man?" The people replied, "He is Abu Isra'il. He has vowed to stand (all day), not to sit, not to seek shade, not to speak to anyone, and to complete his fast in this state." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Tell him to sit down, come into the shade, speak, and complete his fast (in this manner)."
