Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Extent of warning and discretionary punishment (below hadd).
Sayyiduna Abu Burdah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "(In discretionary punishment) do not strike more than ten lashes except in the limits set by Allah (which He has prescribed in the Qur'an and Hadith)."
Accusing slaves of adultery is a major sin.
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard Abul-Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace be upon him) used to say: "Whoever accuses his slave of adultery and the (slave) is innocent of it, then on the Day of Resurrection, the (master) will be flogged unless it is as he (i.e., the master) said (i.e., the slave actually committed adultery)."
