مختصر صحيح مسلم
Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim
Muslim cannot inherit from non-Muslim and vice versa.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim."
Give heirs their shares.
`Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Give the heirs their shares. Then whatever remains is for the closest male relative to the deceased."
Inheritance of kalalah (no father or children).
‘Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to me while I was sick and unconscious. The Prophet (peace be upon him) performed ablution, and people poured the water from his ablution over me, so I regained consciousness. I said,“O Messenger of Allah! (What about) my inheritance?”(The inheritance will be for the kalalah.) (The narrator Shubah) says: I asked Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir,“Was this verse revealed: ‘They ask you for a legal verdict. Say: Allah directs (thus) about Al-Kalalah...’ (An-Nisa: 176)?”He said:“Yes! This very verse was revealed.”
Ma'dan bin Abi Talhah narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon on Friday in which he mentioned the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he mentioned Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he said: "I am not leaving behind any issue after me more important than the issue of kalalah, and I have not asked about any issue as repeatedly as I have about kalalah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not show such strictness with me in any matter as he did in the matter of kalalah, to the extent that he poked his blessed finger into my chest and said: 'O Umar! Is not that verse sufficient for you which was revealed at the end of Surah An-Nisa in the summer season?' Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'If I remain alive, I will issue such a clear ruling about kalalah that everyone will judge accordingly, whether he reads the Qur'an or not.'"
Verse of kalalah was revealed last.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib that the last complete surah to be revealed was Surah At-Tawbah, and the last verse to be revealed was the verse regarding Kalalah.
Whoever leaves wealth, it is for his heirs.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a funeral of a person who was in debt was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would ask: "Has he left behind enough wealth to cover his debt?" If the people said that yes, he has left enough, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer the prayer; and if not, he would say to the people: "You pray over your companion." Then, when Allah Almighty opened the doors of conquest for him (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "I am closer to the believers than their own selves (this is such extreme love that he became more their friend than they themselves). Now, whoever dies in debt, its payment is my responsibility, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heirs."
