Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim
About Allah’s names and those who remember them.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, has ninety-nine names. Whoever memorizes them (that is, believes in their meanings and acts accordingly) will enter Paradise. And Allah Almighty is Odd and loves the odd number (that is why He did not mention a complete hundred names, although Allah has countless names).
The supplication of the Prophet (ﷺ).
Sayyiduna Farwah bin Nawfal Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), "What supplication did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make to Allah?" She said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of the deeds I have done and from the evil of the deeds I have not done."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "O Allah! I have submitted to You, and I have believed in You, and I have put my trust in You, and I have turned to You, and with Your help I fight the enemies. O Master! I seek refuge in Your honor from being led astray by You, and there is no deity worthy of worship except You, and You are the Ever-Living who does not die, while jinn and mankind die."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on a journey and morning came, he would say: The one who hears has heard the praise of Allah and His good trial. O our Lord! Remain with us (that is, help us) and bestow Your grace upon us, and I seek refuge in You from the Hellfire.
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari رضي الله عنه narrates from the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that he صلى الله عليه وسلم used to supplicate: O Allah! Forgive my mistakes, my ignorance, and my excesses in my affairs, and forgive whatever You know better than I do. O Allah! Forgive my intentional sins and my unintentional sins, my joking and my errors and my deliberate actions, and all of these are from me. O Master! Forgive my past and future sins, my hidden and apparent sins, and those which You know better than I do. You are the One Who brings forward and the One Who delays, and You have power over everything.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: O Allah! Set right my religion for me, which is the safeguard and protector of my Hereafter, and set right my worldly affairs for me, in which is my livelihood and life. And set right my Hereafter for me, to which is my return. And make my life an increase for me in every good, and make my death a relief for me from every evil. (This supplication is comprehensive for every purpose.)
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) used to say: O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity (from the unlawful), and richness of the heart.
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I will say to you only what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: O Allah! I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the torment of the grave. O Allah! Grant my soul piety and purify it, for You are the best to purify it. You are its Guardian and Master. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not humble itself before You, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.
Supplication:“O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me well-being, and provide for me.”
Sayyiduna Abu Malik Ashja'i narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! When I ask from my Lord, what should I say?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Say: O Allah! Forgive my sins, have mercy on me, protect me (from sins), and grant me (lawful and pure) sustenance." And while saying these words, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would fold one finger at a time, until all were folded except the thumb. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "These words will combine for you the benefits of both this world and the Hereafter."
Supplication:“Our Lord, give us good in this world...”
'Abdul Aziz (Ibn Suhaib) says that Qatadah asked Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "Which supplication did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) make most frequently?" Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would most often supplicate: "O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of Hell." And Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), whenever he wanted to supplicate, would make this supplication, and whenever he made any other supplication, he would include this supplication in it.
