Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim
First group to enter Paradise.
Muhammad (Ibn Sirin) says that people boasted or discussed whether there would be more men or more women in Paradise. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Did not Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that indeed the first group to enter Paradise will be like the moon on the night when it is full, and the group that follows them will be like the brightest star in the sky? Each man among them will have two wives, whose shin bones’ marrow will be visible from beneath the flesh, and there will be no unmarried person in Paradise.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The very first group to enter Paradise will be like the moon on the night when it is full. Then the group that follows them will be like the brightest shining star, and then there will be ranks after them. The people of Paradise will neither urinate, nor defecate, nor spit, nor blow their noses. Their combs will be of gold and the fragrance of musk will emanate from their sweat. Their incense burners will burn aloes-wood, and their wives will be large-eyed houris. Their manners will be like those of a single person (i.e., all their characters will be alike). Their stature will be that of their father Adam (peace be upon him), sixty cubits tall. Ibn Abi Shaybah said: Their character will be the same, and Abu Kuraib said: Their creation will be of one kind, and Ibn Abi Shaybah said: They will be in the form of their father (Adam, peace be upon him).
Those who enter Paradise will be in the form of Adam.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah, Glorified and Exalted, created Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) in His image, and his height was sixty cubits. When He had completed him, He said: Go and greet that group of angels who are sitting, and listen to what they reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your descendants. Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) went and said: As-salamu ‘alaykum (peace be upon you). The angels replied: As-salamu ‘alayka wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah), thus adding“wa rahmatullah.”So, whoever enters Paradise will be in the form of Adam (peace be upon him), that is, sixty cubits tall. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Adam (peace be upon him) was sixty cubits tall, then the people’s height continued to decrease after him up to now.
Some people will enter Paradise with hearts like birds.
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: Some people will enter Paradise whose hearts will be like the hearts of birds (i.e., in terms of gentleness or in their trust in Allah).
Allah’s pleasure descending upon the people of Paradise.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say to the people of Paradise: "O people of Paradise!" They will say: "O Lord! We are present in Your service, and all goodness is in Your hands." Allah, the Exalted, will say: "Are you pleased?" They will say: "How could we not be pleased, when You have given us what You have not given to anyone among Your creation?" Allah, the Exalted, will say: "Shall I give you something even better than that?" They will say: "O Lord! What could be better than this?" Allah, the Exalted, will say: "I bestow My pleasure upon you, and after this I shall never be angry with you."
People of Paradise seeing those in higher chambers.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, the people of Paradise will look at those in the higher levels just as one looks at a shining star that is on the horizon of the sky, whether in the east or the west. This is because of the difference in ranks among them. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Are these ranks only for the Prophets and no one else will attain them?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Why not? By Him in Whose hand is my soul, those ranks will be attained by people who believed in Allah and affirmed the truth of the Prophets (that is, the rank of the Prophets will be much higher than this)."
Food of the people of Paradise.
‘Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that’ the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who enter Paradise will eat and drink, but they will neither spit, nor blow their noses, nor feel the need to urinate. Rather, their food will be digested as a burp with the fragrance of musk (thus, the food will be dissolved through burping and perspiration). They will be inspired to glorify and praise Allah (that is, to say Subhan Allah and Alhamdulillah) just as they are inspired to breathe.
Gifts for the people of Paradise.
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), says: I was standing by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a scholar from among the Jewish scholars came and said, "Peace be upon you, O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)!" I pushed him so hard that he almost fell. He said, "Why did you push me?" I said, "You mention the name of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and do not say 'Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)'?" He said, "We call him by the name his family gave him." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The name my family gave me is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Jew said, "I have come to ask you something." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I tell you something, will it benefit you?" He said, "I will listen with both my ears." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line on the ground with the stick that was in his blessed hand (as someone does when thinking) and said, "Ask." The Jew said, "On the day when this earth and the heavens will be changed into other earth and heavens, where will the people be at that time?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "At that time, the people will be standing in darkness near the Bridge (Sirat)." He asked, "Then who will be the first to cross that bridge?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The poor among the Muhajirun." (By Muhajirun is meant those people who left their homes and families with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), endured the hardship of poverty and hunger, and turned away from the world.) The Jew said, "Then when those people enter Paradise, what will be their first breakfast/gift?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A piece of the liver of fish (which is extremely delicious and nutritious)." He said, "Then what will be their morning meal?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "For them, the ox will be slaughtered that used to graze in Paradise." Then he asked, "After eating this, what will they drink?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The water of the spring called Salsabeel." The Jew said, "You have spoken the truth, and I have come to ask you about a matter which no one in the world knows except a Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or perhaps one or two other people." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I tell you that matter, will it benefit you?" He said, "I will listen with my ear." Then he said, "I ask about the child." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The man's fluid is white and the woman's fluid is yellow. When these two mix together, and the man's semen prevails over the woman's, then by Allah's command, a boy is born. And when the woman's semen prevails over the man's, then by Allah's command, a girl is born." The Jew said, "Indeed, you have spoken the truth, and surely you are a Prophet." Then he turned and went away. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said, "When he asked me these questions, I had no knowledge of anything until Allah, the Exalted, gave me knowledge of it."
Blessings of Paradise are everlasting.
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: Whoever enters Paradise will be at ease and free from sorrow. His clothes will never wear out, nor will his youth ever fade (that is, he will always remain young and never grow old).
A tree in Paradise whose shade cannot be crossed in a hundred years.
Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: In Paradise, there is a tree under whose shade a rider can travel for a hundred years and still not be able to cross it. Abu Hazim said: I narrated this hadith to Nu'man bin Abi Ayyash Zurqi, so he said that Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Paradise, there is a tree under which a rider of a fine, well-prepared, swift horse can travel for a hundred years and still not be able to cover it completely.
