It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding two men who disputed in a transaction, and neither of them had any proof. He narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered both of them: "Let them draw lots to take an oath, whether they like it or dislike it."

It is narrated with this chain: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "A man from the Children of Israel bought land from another man, and he found in it a pot of gold which was sealed. So he said to the seller of the land: Take your pot, for I bought the land, I did not buy the gold. The other man said: Do you want to return to me the wealth which Allah has taken from me? So they both brought the case before a judge. The judge said: Do either of you have children? They said: Yes. One said: I have a son, and the other said: I have a daughter. He said: Then marry one to the other, and give this wealth to both of them, so they may spend it on themselves and also give charity from it."

Shahr bin Hawshab narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent an army. They passed by a Bedouin who was among his flock of goats. They said to him: "Slaughter for us." So he brought a goat to them. They said: "This one is thin." He brought another, and they said: "This one is also thin." Then they caught a fat, healthy goat, slaughtered it, and ate it. When the heat of the day became intense and his goats were in his shelter, they said to him: "Bring your goats out so that we may take shade in this shelter." He said: "My goat has just given birth. If I bring her out, she will immediately be affected by the heat and become deformed." They said: "Our lives are dearer to us than your goat." So they forced him to bring it out, and it went outside. He then went to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and informed him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) waited until the army returned. Then he asked them, and they began to swear by Allah that they had not done so. The Bedouin said: "By Allah! What I have told you is what they did." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) looked at one of the men among them and said: "If there is any good among them, it is in him." Then he asked him, and he told him exactly as the Bedouin had said. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "You fall into lying just as moths fall into fire. Every lie is certainly written as a lie except for three: a lie in war, for war is deception; a lie to reconcile between two people; and a man lying to his wife to please her."

It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaika that two women were working on sewing shoes/socks in a house, and there was no one else with them except the two of them. One of them struck the other’s hand with an awl, and it pierced through her hand. She said: The other struck her with the awl. A letter was written to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding this, and when he was informed, he said: No decision will be made without evidence and proof, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“If people were given things merely on the basis of their claims, people would claim the lives and wealth of others, but the oath is upon the defendant.”Call both of them and recite to them the Qur’an:“Those who exchange Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price...”So when this was said, she confessed.
