`Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-Fatihah and another surah in the first two rak‘ahs of Zuhr and Asr, and sometimes he would let us hear a verse or so, and in the last two rak‘ahs he would recite only Surah Al-Fatihah.
