باب الشعر حسن كحسن الكلام ومنه قبيح
Chapter: Poetry Is Good Like Good Speech, and Some Is Bad
Hadith Number: 868
حدثنا موسى، قال: حدثنا مبارك، قال: حدثنا الحسن، ان الاسود بن سريع حدثه قال: كنت شاعرا فقلت: يا رسول الله، امتدحت ربي، فقال: ”اما إن ربك يحب الحمد“، وما استزادني على ذلك.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aswad bin Sari’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he states: I was a poet, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have expressed the praise and glorification of my Lord (in poetry). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Why not, indeed your Lord loves praise.”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not say anything more to me than this.
