باب: هل يسلم الماشي على الراكب؟
Chapter: Does the walker greet the rider?
Hadith Number: 997
حدثنا محمد بن كثير، قال: اخبرنا سليمان بن كثير، عن حصين، عن الشعبي، انه لقي فارسا فبداه بالسلام، فقلت: تبداه بالسلام؟ قال: رايت شريحا ماشيا يبدا بالسلام.
It is narrated from Imam Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that he met a horse rider and greeted him first with salam. (His student Husain says) I asked: Why did you greet him first? He replied: I saw Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) that even while walking on foot, he would initiate the salam.
