Iyad bin Hamar said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:“Indeed, Allah has revealed to me that you should adopt humility, so that no one oppresses another and no one boasts over another.”Upon this I said: O Messenger of Allah, if someone abuses me in a large gathering and he is of a lower status than me, and I respond to him, will I also be sinful for that? He said:“Two people who abuse each other are both devils, who utter foul words and lie.”
