Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad
Part Three: Ahadith 500 to 750
Chapter: Not asking Allah angers Him
Hadith Number: 514
It is narrated from Aban bin Uthman that I heard Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever says three times every morning and every evening: «بسم الله الذى لا يضر مع اسمه شيء فى الأرض ولا فى السماء وهو السميع العليم» , 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing,' nothing will harm him." He (Aban) had suffered paralysis on one side. The listener began to look at him, and he realized it. He said: The hadith is exactly as I have narrated to you, but on that day I did not recite this supplication so that Allah's decree could take effect.
