When he was on his deathbed, he said to his children: 'What kind of father was I to you?' They said: 'The best father.' He said: 'Will you obey me, or shall I take my wealth from you? See, when I die, burn me until you leave me as charcoal, then crush me with the pestle,'" and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, moved his hands near his knees. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "So they did, by Allah," and the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did with his hand like this: "Then scatter me on a windy day, perhaps I will elude Allah." Thus said Affan, and Muhanna Abu Shibl narrated from Hammad: "I will elude Allah, so they did that, by Allah. Then he was standing in the grasp of Allah the Exalted, and He said: 'O son of Adam, what made you do what you did?' He said: 'Out of fear of You.' So Allah forgave him for that."
