Hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 22989
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once returned from a battle, and a black woman came to the court of the Prophet and said, "I had made a vow that if Allah brought you back safely, I would express my happiness by playing the drum before you." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you made this vow, then fulfill your vow, and if you did not, then do not do it." So she started playing the drum. In the meantime, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and she kept playing. Then some other people came, but she continued playing. After a little while, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, so she hid her drum behind her and covered her face. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this and said, "O Umar! Satan is afraid of you. I was sitting here, and these people also came, but when you came, she did what she did."
