Rabi’ bin Hirash (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when the troublemakers set out towards Hazrat Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him), I reached Hazrat Hudhaifa bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) in Mada’in. He asked me,“O Rabi’! What happened to your people?”I asked,“What do you want to know about them?”He said,“Who among them has set out towards Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)?”I told him the names of some of them. He said,“I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever leaves the congregation and humiliates his leader will meet Allah in such a state that he will have no status there.”
