حديث صهيب رضي الله عنه
Hadith of Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 23931
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، اخبرنا ثابت ، عن عبد الرحمن بن ابي ليلى ، عن صهيب ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " كان ملك فيمن كان قبلكم، وكان له ساحر، فلما كبر الساحر، قال للملك: إني قد كبرت سني، وحضر اجلي، فادفع إلي غلاما فلاعلمه السحر، فدفع إليه غلاما، فكان يعلمه السحر، وكان بين الساحر وبين الملك راهب، فاتى الغلام على الراهب، فسمع من كلامه فاعجبه نحوه وكلامه، فكان إذا اتى الساحر ضربه، وقال: ما حبسك؟ وإذا اتى اهله ضربوه، وقالوا: ما حبسك؟ فشكا ذلك إلى الراهب، فقال: إذا اراد الساحر ان يضربك، فقل: حبسني اهلي، وإذا اراد اهلك ان يضربوك، فقل: حبسني الساحر، وقال: فبينما هو كذلك إذ اتى ذات يوم على دابة فظيعة عظيمة وقد حبست الناس، فلا يستطيعون ان يجوزوا، فقال: اليوم اعلم امر الراهب احب إلى الله ام امر الساحر؟ فاخذ حجرا، فقال: اللهم إن كان امر الراهب احب إليك وارضى لك من الساحر، فاقتل هذه الدابة حتى يجوز الناس، ورماها فقتلها، ومضى الناس، فاخبر الراهب بذلك، فقال: اي بني، انت افضل مني، وإنك ستبتلى، فإن ابتليت، فلا تدل علي، فكان الغلام يبرئ الاكمه وسائر الادواء ويشفيهم، وكان جليس للملك فعمي، فسمع به، فاتاه بهدايا كثيرة، فقال: اشفني ولك ما هاهنا اجمع، فقال: ما اشفي انا احدا، إنما يشفي الله عز وجل، فإن انت آمنت به، دعوت الله فشفاك، فآمن فدعا الله له فشفاه، ثم اتى الملك، فجلس منه نحو ما كان يجلس، فقال له الملك: يا فلان، من رد عليك بصرك، فقال: ربي، قال: انا؟ قال: لا، لكن ربي وربك الله، قال: اولك رب غيري؟! قال: نعم، فلم يزل يعذبه حتى دله على الغلام، فبعث إليه، فقال: اي بني، قد بلغ من سحرك ان تبرئ الاكمه والابرص وهذه الادواء؟ قال: ما اشفي انا احدا، ما يشفي غير الله عز وجل، قال: انا؟ قال: لا، قال: اولك رب غيري؟! قال: نعم، ربي وربك الله، فاخذه ايضا بالعذاب، فلم يزل به حتى دل على الراهب، فاتى بالراهب، فقال: ارجع عن دينك فابى، فوضع المنشار في مفرق راسه حتى وقع شقاه، وقال للاعمى: ارجع عن دينك فابى، فوضع المنشار في مفرق راسه حتى وقع شقاه في الارض، وقال للغلام: ارجع عن دينك فابى، فبعث به مع نفر إلى جبل كذا وكذا، فقال: إذا بلغتم ذروته فإن رجع عن دينه، وإلا فدهدهوه من فوقه، فذهبوا به، فلما علوا به الجبل، قال: اللهم اكفنيهم بما شئت، فرجف بهم الجبل فدهدهوا اجمعون، وجاء الغلام يتلمس حتى دخل على الملك، فقال: ما فعل اصحابك؟ فقال: كفانيهم الله عز وجل، فبعثه مع نفر في قرقور، فقال: إذا لججتم به البحر فإن رجع عن دينه وإلا فغرقوه، فلججوا به البحر، فقال الغلام: اللهم اكفنيهم بما شئت، فغرقوا اجمعون، وجاء الغلام يتلمس حتى دخل على الملك، فقال: ما فعل اصحابك؟ قال: كفانيهم الله عز وجل، ثم قال للملك: إنك لست بقاتلي حتى تفعل ما آمرك به، فإن انت فعلت ما آمرك به قتلتني، وإلا فإنك لا تستطيع قتلي، قال: وما هو؟ قال: تجمع الناس في صعيد، ثم تصلبني على جذع فتاخذ سهما من كنانتي، ثم قل: بسم الله رب الغلام، فإنك إذا فعلت ذلك قتلتني، ففعل ووضع السهم في كبد قوسه ثم رمى، فقال: بسم الله رب الغلام، فوضع السهم في صدغه، فوضع الغلام يده على موضع السهم ومات، فقال الناس: آمنا برب الغلام، فقيل للملك: ارايت ما كنت تحذر؟ فقد والله نزل بك، قد آمن الناس كلهم، فامر بافواه السكك فخددت فيها الاخدود، واضرمت فيها النيران، وقال: من رجع عن دينه فدعوه وإلا فاقحموه فيها، قال: فكانوا يتعادون فيها ويتدافعون، فجاءت امراة بابن لها ترضعه، فكانها تقاعست ان تقع في النار، فقال الصبي: يا امه، اصبري، فإنك على الحق" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the people before you, there was a king who had a magician. When the magician became old, he said to the king, "Now I have grown old and my end is near, so send a boy to me so that I may teach him magic." The king sent a boy to the old magician to learn magic, and he began to teach him magic. On his way, there was a monk, so the boy would sit with the monk and listen to his words, which he liked. Then, whenever he went to the magician and passed by the monk, he would sit with him. (Because of coming late) the magician would beat the boy. The boy complained about this to the monk, so the monk said, "If you fear the magician, say that my family kept me (for some work), and if you fear your family, say that the magician kept me."
During this time, a huge beast blocked the way of the people. (When the boy came that way) he said, "Today I will know whether the magician's work is more beloved to Allah or the monk's." Then he picked up a stone and said, "O Allah! If the matter of the monk is more beloved to You than the magician's, then kill this beast so that people may pass (through this way)." Then he struck the beast with the stone and killed it, and people began to pass. Then the boy came to the monk and informed him of this. The monk said to the boy, "O son! Today you are superior to me, because your matter has reached such a stage that soon you will be put to trial. If you are put to trial, do not tell anyone about me."
The boy would cure those who were born blind and lepers, and would cure people of every disease. A companion of the king became blind. He heard about the boy, so he brought many gifts to him and said, "If you cure me, all these gifts that I have brought will be yours." The boy said, "I do not cure anyone, rather it is Allah who cures. If you believe in Allah, I will pray to Allah to cure you." Then that person believed in Allah, and Allah granted him cure.
Then that man (who was cured) came to the king and sat with him as he used to before. The king asked him, "Who restored your sight to you?" He replied, "My Lord." The king said, "Do you have a Lord other than me?" He said, "My Lord and your Lord is Allah." Then the king seized him and began to torture him, so he told the king about the boy. (The boy was called.) When the boy came, the king said to him, "O son! Has your magic reached such a level that you cure those born blind and lepers, and do such things?" The boy said, "I do not cure anyone, rather it is Allah who cures." The king seized him and tortured him until he told the king about the monk. (Then the monk was called.) The monk came, and it was said to him, "Renounce your religion." The monk refused. Then the king called for a saw, placed it on the monk's head, and split his head into two pieces.
Then the king's companion was brought and it was said to him, "Renounce your religion." He also refused. The king placed the saw on his head and split his head into two pieces. (Then the boy was called.) He came, and it was said to him, "Renounce your religion." He also refused. So the king handed the boy over to some of his companions and said, "Take him to such-and-such mountain, and take him to the top of the mountain. If he renounces his religion, let him go, and if he refuses, throw him down from the top of the mountain." So the king's companions took the boy to the top of the mountain. The boy said, "O Allah, save me from them in whatever way You wish." Immediately, an earthquake struck the mountain, and all the king's companions fell, and the boy came walking to the king.
The king asked the boy, "What happened to your companions?" The boy said, "Allah saved me from them." The king again handed the boy over to some of his companions and said, "Take him in a small boat and throw him into the middle of the sea if he does not renounce his religion." The king's companions took the boy, so he...
