It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he cooked meat in a pot for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Give me its foreleg.”So I gave it to him. After a little while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for another foreleg, and I gave that too. After a little while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again asked for a foreleg. I said:“O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does a goat have?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, forelegs would have continued to come out of this pot as long as I kept asking you.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, rinsed his mouth, washed the tips of his fingers, and stood up to pray. Then he came back to them and found some cold meat lying there; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate that as well, and entered the mosque and performed prayer without touching water.
