649| Prolonging prostration in the eclipse prayer
Hadith Number: 1389
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the blessed era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), one day there was a solar eclipse. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to pray; he stood (for so long) that it seemed as if he did not want to go into bowing (ruku‘). Then he bowed, remaining in ruku‘ for so long that it seemed as if he did not want to raise his head from ruku‘. Then when he raised his blessed head, he stood (for so long that it seemed) he did not want to go into prostration (sajdah). Then when he prostrated, it was as if he did not want to raise his head. Then when he raised his blessed head, he sat (for so long) that it seemed he did not want to prostrate again. Then when he prostrated, it was as if he did not want to raise his blessed head.
