Lady Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge from us, he also took this covenant from us that we would not wail (over the dead). But except for five women, no one fulfilled this promise. These women were Umm Sulaym, Umm ‘Ala’, the daughter of Abu Sabrah who was in the house of Mu‘adh, and besides them two women, or (she said) the daughter of Abu Sabrah, the wife of Mu‘adh, and another woman.
