Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Neither Raqba (taking back) is permissible nor Umra. Whoever is given Umra or Raqba, then that thing belongs to him in his lifetime and after his death as well. Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Raqba is that a man says to another: "From my side and your side (i.e., if I die first, it is yours, and if you die first, it will return to me)," and Umra is that he gives that thing to him for his lifetime. Ata says: If it is given for a year or two years or for a fixed period, it is a gift, not Umra.
