Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory for a person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) to rinse the mouth three times and to put water into the nose three times (during the ritual bath). Imam Daraqutni states: This narration is invalid. No one has narrated it except the narrator named Barqah, and this narrator Barqah used to fabricate hadiths. The authentic narration is the one transmitted by the narrator named Waki’, which we have previously mentioned as a“mursal”narration from Ibn Sirin: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made it a Sunnah to put water into the nose three times in the state of major ritual impurity (janabah).
