Discussion on Inheritance
باب ما تبقى بعد الفريضة للعصبة
Chapter on what remains after the obligatory shares goes to the agnates

نا محمد بن احمد بن زيد الجناني، نا محمد بن احمد بن داود بن ابي عتاب، نا احمد بن ابي العباس الرملي، نا ضمرة، عن سعيد بن الحسن، قال: قلت لسفيان الثوري:" لو وليت القضاء بفرائض من كنت تاخذ؟، قال: بفرائض زيد بن ثابت" .
Saeed bin Hasan narrates: I said to Sufyan Thawri, "If you take up the position of giving judgments regarding inheritance, from whom will you seek guidance in this matter?" Sufyan replied, "I will seek guidance from the decisions of Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding inheritance."
