The Third Virtue Regarding the Abundance of His Knowledge, Strength of His Religion, Righteousness, and Asceticism
Hadith Number: 12202
عن ابي امامة بن سهل بن حنيف عن بعض اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال قال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ”بينا انا نائم رايت الناس يعرضون علي وعليهم قمص منها ما يبلغ الثدي وفيها ما يبلغ اسفل من ذلك فعرض علي عمر وعليه قميص يجره“ قالوا فما اولت ذاك يا رسول الله قال ”الدين“
Sahl bin Hunaif narrates from a companion that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I was asleep when I saw people being presented before me, and they were wearing shirts. Some shirts reached up to the chest, and some were even lower than that. Then Umar was presented before me, and his shirt was so long that he was dragging it. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! How did you interpret this? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Religion.
