الباب السابع فيما جاء فى خراب المدينة آخر الزمان
The seventh chapter regarding what has come about the ruin of Madinah at the end of time
Hadith Number: 12671
عن جابر رضي الله عنه، قال: اخبرني عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يقول: ”ليسيرن الراكب في جنبات المدينة، ثم ليقول: لقد كان في هذا حاضر من المؤمنين كثير“، قال ابي احمد بن حنبل: ولم يجز به حسن الاشيب جابرا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A rider passing by Madinah will say, "There used to be a large number of believers in this city." Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal said: Hasan Ashayb did not go beyond Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him). (That is, he did not mention Umar bin Khattab, but narrated the hadith in the style of Musnad Jabir.)
